Feeding Therapy: Where learning about food is fun!
With over 20 years of clinical experience and more than 30 years as a mother, Maria brings a unique expertise to the practice. Specializing in feeding disorders, she is well-versed in medical, emotional, behavioral, and sensory approaches to treatment. At our practice, we prioritize holistic development, tailoring each feeding program to your child's unique needs. We take into account individual preferences, family objectives, and dietary considerations, ensuring a comprehensive and personalized approach to your child's feeding journey. |
Maria is trained and mentored by the SOS Approach to Feeding, a transdisciplinary program for assessing and managing children with feeding and weight or growth difficulties; incorporating perceptual, motor, oral, learning, medical, and nutritional factors into therapy. Throughout the years, Maria has found this approach to be effective in remediating feeding difficulties, adding her personal touch in supporting families along their journeys. |

Families have described being in the office as feeling "warm & cozy." Here we have access to lots of interesting foods and cool kitchen gadgets to help make learning about food fun & pleasant. Therapy in the office is meant to mimic your child's mealtimes at home with your child's therapist and you sharing this exciting experience! |
Therapy in the garden helps children learn about foods through sensory development; experiencing new sights, sounds, smells, textures, and tastes... naturally! They learn how to move their bodies while planting, watering, and growing -- then harvesting, cleaning, and chopping their favorite foods, bringing learning about foods to a whole new level! |
For children & families who prefer learning about foods in their own homes, virtual sessions are offered. Here our therapists coach parents in being the leader of the feeding session. Parents and caregivers sometimes prefer this approach, not only when considering the child's needs, but for practical reasons, too. |
